PHOTO FLASHBACK: Tim and Heather's Thanksgiving Wedding

Tim and Heather are a fantastic couple from the Fredonia/Forestville area in New York, who were married on Thanksgiving Day. Although all weddings are beautiful events, we felt especially privileged to be able to be a part of this wonderful and special union.

Tim and Heather are both unique and artistic individuals, and their wedding was truly a reflection of themselves. They decided to hold the festivities of the day at a friend's winter cabin. They didn't want a lot of the fanfare and fuss of a traditional wedding, but they wanted all of their family and friends to be able to have a good time and celebrate with them in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Basically they threw a big party, with a quick wedding ceremony in the middle!

Heather spent a lot of time thoughtfully preparing all the decorations to match the time of year and the coziness of the home setting. She filled her friend's home with lots of great little details:

Heather is a nurse, and for months before her wedding, she stockpiled discarded medicine bottles to make the perfect tiny vases:

Heather also hand-made origami cranes as favors for the guests to take home:

We started out the day early with Tim and Heather and their children, so we could get some casual portraits of the family (dog included!) before the guests arrived:

It was snowing, but we ran outside for quick shots of the couple alone before the snow could ruin Heather's hair:

The ceremony was simple and beautiful:

Tim and Heather's friends surprised them in the middle of their ceremony with a song they'd prepared especially for the couple:

Then it was time to continue the party!

After everyone had eaten, it was time for dancing!

One of Tim and Heather's friend is a contra dancer, so they had her call some dances. Everyone had so much fun!

The evening was concluded by Tim's sons serenading the newlyweds:

And Tim couldn't help but join in at the end!

It was a fun day, and we were so happy Tim and Heather let us share it with them!

SuperGeorge & His Guitars

Earlier this season we shot senior portraits for George. George is a practical kind of guy, and didn't want to go traipsing all over the city for different locations. He wanted us to find one location with multiple backgrounds in one general area. We suggested the Highland area, which George agreed to. We ended up at the Poet's Garden and the flower conservatory.

Here are some of our favorite shots from the day:

George is a really tall guy, and I wanted to emphasize that in this shot:

At one point during the shoot, George and his mother, who had joined us, began to whisper conspiratorially with each other. Melinda and I were a bit nervous, but we had no need to be! George wanted us to do give him some super-hero treatment, and we were only too happy to oblige!

Here is the raw image with no touch-ups:

And here is the photo that George was envisioning, that we created for him, after the fact, in post-production:

The angle and composition of this photo made it perfect for an artistic effect:

George is a musician, and he wanted his senior portraits to reflect that. He brought both of his guitars to shoot with:

The reflection of the sky and the silhouette of the trees in George's guitar were so lovely, I had to give this photo a select color treatment:

For the last photo of the day, George gave us his best Captain Morgan pose:

We had a great time, we had GREAT WEATHER, and George and his mother loved his photos. All of George's friends loved his photos too - especially his Superman photo!
