Time to Give Thanks

I was contacted last week by not one, but two people, asking for custom thank-you card designs. It's nice that people want to express their gratitude, and do it in style!

The first request was from Horizons, a summer recreational program for students from low-income families. They wanted something new and fresh to give their donors and volunteers.

Since Horizons works with school children, I first designed a card that captured the whimsy of school days:



I also wanted to give them something a little more sophisticated:



They liked them so much, they decided to order them both!

I was also contacted by a mom who wanted something different and unique to give her children's teachers. I took the multilingual concept from my second card and created a whole new card:

Dave and Kim's Wedding

We instantly fell in love with Dave and Kim when we first met with them. We were so pleased to shoot their wedding for them.

As always, we started with casual coverage of the rehearsal:













We started the next morning with both the boys and girls getting ready:











Then it was time for the ceremony:















In between the ceremony and the reception, we took portraits of Dave and Kim with their bridal party. We went downtown to the RiverWalk at Corn Hill, where Dave and Kim had their first date! It was sprinkling a little, but we still were able to get some great shots:

There was a kid's table at the reception, and on that table was a tub of ring pops. We took a couple and got this fantastic ring shot:

At every wedding, there are a few family members and friends who are enthusiastic about photography. At this wedding, it was practically everyone!



We had a great time with Dave and Kim. We are so happy we got to share their day with them!

New Birthday Invitation Designs

This past week I received a request from Jami, a long-time customer, for birthday invitations. Her mother is turning 70, and she wanted to honor her with a brunch. Such an important occastion, and so standard invitations just wouldn't do!

We were able to create an invitation that Jami and her family adored. As with all of our design work, we gave them a few options to work with. Even though Jami went with the pink design, maybe you like the green design better!

Wedding Inspiration Board: I Want Candy!

This year I have decided to replace our Photo Flashbacks with something new. This year our random posts will now be dedicated to Inspiration Boards. We will be doing inspiration boards on everything that we do - wedding colors and details, portrait locations with a common theme, for example - and we will take requests, so if there is something you want to see, send us an email!

To start us off, I created an Inspiration Board of some of the creative ways we've seen candy used and displayed at weddings:



Each wedding is different, and it's always great to see how brides take something as simple and common as candy, and give it her own twist to fit her wedding. I love seeing all the cool containers and color combinations that brides come up with. And I especially love the look of well-lit hard candy on a white tablecloth!
