Dana's Senior Portraits (part 2)

Over the summer we shot Dana's first senior portrait session. Dana took full advantage of her two-session package, and cut and dyed her hair right before her second shoot!

Along with picking her locations, Dana decided that she wanted lots of artistic filters added to her pictures. We started out with some more traditional headshots-at least as traditional as we get!

I added an artistic treatment to make the colors pop:

This photo was perfect for a select color treatment to emphasize Dana's eyes:

I added an artistic filter to this one too:

We then went to the park:

At the park we hopped into a tube in the jungle gym. It's some of my favorite photos of Dana!

And with the artistic treatment:

And with a select color treatment:

After the park, we went to a soccer field to get some portraits of Dana in her uniform:

I softened the photo by adding a vintage color treatment:

I added an artistic treatment to highlight the clouds in the sky:

I found a giant inflatable soccer ball, and it made the best accessory for these photos!

The soles of Dana's cleats matched her uniform, so I used a select color treatment-such fun!

We had a great day with great weather, and Dana got some great shots with her new dark hair!

Pilar's Quincenera Invitations

Last month I blogged about the bilingual thank-you cards we designed for the board of directors of Rochester's Puerto Rican Festival. After that post I was contacted by Bill and Julia, a lovely couple who has a 14 year old daughter named Pilar. Pilar is going to be celebrating her quincenera soon, and Bill and Julia asked if we could design custom invitations for Pilar's celebration - and in a hurry!

We met with Pilar, and after talking with her and her family about what they wanted, we decided to base the invitation on the intricate details in her dress. After taking some photos of her dress, I came up with this invitation. It's delicate and feminine, just like Pilar herself:

The whole Hernandez family absolutely loved the invitation, and were especially happy that we could create it for them so quickly!

Brandon's Senior Portraits (part 1)

We recently shot Brandon's first senior portrait session. Brandon is an intellectual, so he chose two very cerebral locations to shoot: the University of Rochester and the Memorial Art Gallery.

Brandon is a very smart and serious young man, but he also has a great sense of humor and he loves to have fun. We wanted to create a portrait session that reflected both of these sides.

Here are some of our favorites from the day.

We started at the University of Rochester's library:

This photo's coloring was perfect for a high-contrast artistic treatment:

We then headed into the stacks:

I added an artistic treatment to emphasize Brandon's shadow:

On our way out we found a fantastic round window that was too good to pass up:

We then headed over to the Memorial Art Gallery, where Brandon changed into his Bond, James Bond suit:

We had a great day, and everyone loved Brandon's photos!

*UPDATE: we recently shot Brandon's second senior portrait session!
