Dana's Senior Portraits (part 2)

Over the summer we shot Dana's first senior portrait session. Dana took full advantage of her two-session package, and cut and dyed her hair right before her second shoot!

Along with picking her locations, Dana decided that she wanted lots of artistic filters added to her pictures. We started out with some more traditional headshots-at least as traditional as we get!

I added an artistic treatment to make the colors pop:

This photo was perfect for a select color treatment to emphasize Dana's eyes:

I added an artistic filter to this one too:

We then went to the park:

At the park we hopped into a tube in the jungle gym. It's some of my favorite photos of Dana!

And with the artistic treatment:

And with a select color treatment:

After the park, we went to a soccer field to get some portraits of Dana in her uniform:

I softened the photo by adding a vintage color treatment:

I added an artistic treatment to highlight the clouds in the sky:

I found a giant inflatable soccer ball, and it made the best accessory for these photos!

The soles of Dana's cleats matched her uniform, so I used a select color treatment-such fun!

We had a great day with great weather, and Dana got some great shots with her new dark hair!

Go Lady Falcons!

As some of you know, I teach photography at The Charles Finney School. Since the kids know that I am a professional photographer, they often ask me to take portraits for them. Here are some of the team portraits I have taken for the girls sports teams:

Dontrell's Senior Portraits (part 1)

At the beginning of the school year, we went on an all-day excursion to shoot Dontrell's senior portraits. Dontrell was very smart in picking her locations, so we were able to get a lot of different backgrounds in the same place.

Dontrell is very athletic - she plays soccer, basketball, and softball - and she wanted portraits in all three uniforms. She chose Cobbs Hill to shoot, since they have fields for all three sports in the same general area.

We started with soccer:

This picture was perfect for a select color treatment:

We then moved on to baseball:

I added a very gritty, very harsh black and white effect, to better capture the mood. It's one of my favorite pictures of Dontrell!

We rounded out the sports portraits with basketball:

Before the left Cobbs Hill, we ran over to the playground for a bit:

We then moved on to Webster State Park:

As is common when we shoot outdoors, it started to rain. And as is common when it starts to rain, we decided if we were going to get wet, we might as well have fun with it!

I used a color treatment to emphasize the rain on Dontrell's skin:

We hopped into the lake for this fantastic shot (my other favorite!):

We had a great time, and even used the rain to our advantage!
